Lunpia is kind of spring rolls, the difference is what is stuffed inside the popiah (the skin cover made from flour like crepes). In Indonesia (or Semarang as a specific location), these spring rolls contains bamboo sprout (Indonesia : rebung) fried with shrimp and egg. It's served with some sticky sauce like glue so we called it lem (English : glue), some pickles, and fresh leeks.
For further information , see this wikipedia
In my country, Lunpia has 2 variations :
- Lunpia Basah (Wet Spring Rolls) - uncooked popiah
- Lunpia Goreng (Fried Spring Rolls)
Okay. Now, i'll give a recommendation place to get Lunpia in Semarang.
LUNPIA SEMARANG
Gg. Lombok no. 11, Semarang, Central Java - Indonesia
This is the most popular place to eat Lunpia. Yummy!
To accompany ur appetite u can also find some beverages beside this place. A few months ago, i bought a fresh coconut ice (Indonesia : es degan) and a fresh tutty fruity ice (Indonesia : sup buah). It's so matching, yum!
Don't worry about the price, u just have to pay 12000 IDR for each Lunpia (wet/fried) and 10000-20000 for the ice.
Writing this post made me starving. I'll go get some Lunpias. Haha. Come and enjoy! xoxo
