Happy Chinese New Year too ! Sorry if i'm too late, but better too late than never :p
Combining those days, i had a story to tell.
My grandma told me yesterday that she will give me a valentine's present. Yipee!
Believe it or not, my grandma gave me two delight presents and those are.......
KUE KERANJANG (English : basket cake; Chinese : nian gao - 年糕)
For further information about Kue Kranjang see this id.wikipedia or en.wikipedia
My family usually cooked this food again but u can eat this straightly. It tastes sweet and sticky enough (stickier than mochi). Sometimes, when u ate kue kranjang, it stucked in ur palate. It's fun! Haha.
To cook this food, there's 2 ways which my family always did :
- Steamed Nian Gao : kue kranjang was sliced little then steamed with coconut milk and salt covered with banana leaves.
- Fried Nian Gao : kue kranjang was sliced little then fried with scrambled-egg so it's crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. (this is my favourite's way to cook kue kranjang, simple and delicious! )
I believe there's so many ways to cook Kue Kranjang bcause it forms and tastes. I'll try something new then post it on my blog. Wish me luck, guys :)
O my God, this is the best valentine's present ever. Thank u so much, grandma. xoxo
